Calendar Quilts
I am in the process of making a wall hanging for each month. Here are the ones I have so far.
Click on the small photos for a bigger picture.

January. This was the very first quilt I ever made. Someone once said, it looks like it is snowing, so I am using it as my January Quilt. It is made from Austrian Dirndl-fabrics, the fabric from which the traditional Austrian women's costume - the Dirndl - is made. It is machine pieced and hand quilted.
February. Hearts for Valentine's Day. The hearts are pre cut from Keepsake Quilting and machine appliqued. It is hand quilted around the hearts and around the squares.
March. I finished it in May 1996. The double irish chain pattern is machine pieced (no shortcuts) and there are shamrocks hand quilted with pink thread in the darkgreen squares. (Unfortunately they do not show on the photo). I showed this quilt, which I call "Irish Spring" at a local quilt show.
April. The pattern for this quilt is taken from the book "Calendar Quilts" by Joan Hanson, it is called "Bunny Trails". The ears of the bunnies are floppy and fixed in various positions. It is machine pieced and machine quilted and finally finished, washed and ready to go (I can't believe it, but I actually made the top in 1995, talk about being a slow quilter).
May. It is the first time I tried to quilt a pattern rather than just in the ditch. Unfortunately the quilting does not show very well in the photo. It is machine pieced and hand quilted.
June. I got married in June and those cats make such a pretty couple. The pattern for this quilt top is taken from the book "Cats, Cats, Cats". It is called "Calico Friends". The cats and the hearts are machine appliqued, the border is machine pieced and it is machine quilted. I used Austrian Dirndl fabrics for it.
July. This is from a pattern by Mary Graham. It is machine pieced, hand appliqued and machine quilted. The fabrics are from Debbie Mumm.
August. Just a quick wall hanging for August. It has fusible applique and is machine pieced and machine quilted.
October. I made this quilt after I bought a medley of Hoffman leaf prints. I wanted to use the fabrics in as big a pattern as possible, because they were so beautiful. It is machine pieced and hand quilted.
Halloween 2004. Machine appliqued and machine quilted. Pattern by Mary Graham. (October 2004)
Halloween. This is the Trick or Treat wallhanging that Keepsake Quilting had in one of the previous editions of Quilt Sampler Magazine. It is fusible applique, machine pieced and machine quilted around the blocks. I started it quite a while ago and finished it just in time for Halloween 2000.
December/Christmas. For me this is the most beautiful quilt top I have ever made. It is done with Hoffmann prints, the pattern is by Marti Michell and taken from the December 1994 issue of "American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine", which I have subscribed to from the first issue. It is machine pieced and it looks much better in reality that it does on these pictures.
